`原单` is almost exclusively used in the context of shopping, especially online. Sellers use it to attract buyers looking for high-quality bargains. However, the term covers a spectrum of authenticity:
真原单 (zhēn yuándān) - Genuine Overruns: The ideal type. These are true surplus items from the official production line. They are very rare and often have minor details changed, like having their labels cut, to avoid legal issues.
跟单 (gēndān) - “Follow-up Order”: Goods made in the same factory, possibly with the same blueprints, but produced *after* the official order is complete. They might use slightly different or leftover materials. The quality is very close but not 100% identical.
仿单 (fǎngdān) - “Copied Order”: This is what most `原单` items for sale actually are. They are high-quality replicas made by a different factory that has tried to copy the original product as closely as possible. Sellers use the term `原单` to market these items as being superior to average fakes (`假货 - jiǎhuò`).
When you see a seller advertising `原单` goods, you should be skeptical but understand they are signaling that their product is intended to be a top-tier replica, not cheap junk.
